RE: Acrobat Catalog - Files and Filenames

Actually, thinking about it, it's not so much the support files' size as
their number that is a concern. There is some reluctance to include a host
of new files into the CD build. But if they are all required, then this
might not be such a concern.

I don't specify any rules other than which folder to use, and I accept the
other default options. Oh, and I tried turning on the "Optimize for CD" (?)
option, but this still generated all the support files.

Ah, so the filenaming guidelines apply only to the PDX file. Phew. (Good
advice about "clean" names for PDFs, though.)

I believe you need the support folders, but mine have
never been "fairly large"... and I've created Catalogs
for as much as 12,000 PDF pages of documentation. What
do you classify as "fairly large" and what rules do
you specify in creating the Catalog? Do you use a stop
word list?

That's for the catalog filename only. Your PDFs can be
named whatever you'd like, though I always suggest
against using spaces or special characters in
filenames.
