I'm with Andrew on the limiting the number of posts. It might not improve
focus and stop rudeness, but it will consign OT chat and e-duelling into
neat deletable dollops.
I for one haven't got time to work out which threads contain
profession-enhancing content, and which don't. Worse, those threads that are
useful are so long and bitty that it's hard to traul through and find the
useful stuff.
If it's technically possible, I'd suggest an 8-hour period, with two posts
if you start a thread (that way you can clarify a question if prompted), and
just one otherwise.
