RE: serif or san serif??

I am currently working on an online help system.  In school we talked about
using serif fonts for text and san serif for heading, etc.   for looks and
readability.  I always thought that this carried over to the e-text as well.
I have been hearing that studies say that sanserif is easier or better when
looking at e-texts.  Any one have answers?

Ted.

Don't worry too much about whether a letter has a serif or not. Chances are,
for anything online, unless you have tight control, my system will alter
what you specify.

I'd concern myself more with the understanding of the content...how well is
it written and organized. One poor sentence blows the significance of the
serif throughout the whole document right out of the water. In school, it's
easier to discuss letter characteristics because it's harder to discuss
content and subject.
