Er, the use of the comma, followed by "which..." indicates that
the writer is making use of the "that/which" distinction, which,
despite becoming something of a lost art, indicates that s/he
understood (and showed the understanding implicitly) that a Java
Runtime Environment is not required for JavaScript.

Er... ah... harumph! Dismounting grammar/usage soapbox.
