I have always felt that my year-long business typing class in High School was the most valuable course I ever took. (I won't say what year but it was when electric typewriters had just become the standard.) I not only learned to type, I learned to create professional business documents and to organize material on a page with appropriate use of white space, margins, headers and footers, footnotes, endnotes, etc.
