Not the '70s, but I'll answer anyway: Early '80s, Ontario, calculus was
offered in Grade 13. (Grade 13 and its replacement, OAC, are no more, so I
don't know what's going on now.)

If you went to university in Ontario, you might have been affected by this.
Certainly I saw it--one of my first-year physics instructors assumed that we
all knew basic integro-differential calculus. I had no problem (I liked
calculus anyway), but students from some of the other provinces expressed
some grief about it (putting it mildly). Some knew basic differentiation
but no integration, others had no calculus at all.

Me, I liked the course in which we soldered wires and stuff (where "stuff"
occasionally consisted of our fingernails).

Cheers ... Kim
