In the late 80s, when I was in 6th grade, our teacher had us diagraming sentences. This was a public school in one of the better school districts in the area. She's still teaching at this school, but I do not know if she still does this or not.

I covered all of the stuff Dick lists every year from 4th grade through 8th grade, because the curriculum we used in our home school included separate grammar books that reinforced and built on what we learned in previous grades.
