I see "Design skills" as being one of those advanced skills, which, among
other things would -include- fonts.
I wouldn't consider "Fonts" (by itself) to be an advanced skill category.

Just curious: what are "font skills," and how do they differ from
"design skills"?
Also, why should they be eliminated? Knowledge of layout may not be
essential for a technical writer, but they've landed me jobs over
less-rounded people.
