"man ssh" doesn't produce text. It produces terminal output. That
output includes control characters to produce boldface in a terminal
emulator. Its duplicate characters to you, I guess; it looks just
fine to me. :)

The command you're looking for is "nroff -man ssh" That'll give you
plain text.
