A good product is designed well from the ground up. Does the line manager of
the safety latch on a gun say, "Is there a way I can get involved with the
engineering team so that I am aware of last minute (sic) changes."?

If you are working on a product that doesn't include documentation as a vital
component (one that doesn't come as an afterthought), you are working on an
inferior product in an inferior organization.
