TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I?m writing to request your participation in a salary survey for the
European Technical Communications industry. This survey is sponsored by
the France Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication, but will
cover all of Europe.
We hope to use the results of this survey to establish the average skill
set, work environment, and compensation of technical communicators in
Europe. This information may be used by individuals as a negotiating
tool, and also by companies to determine fair salary ranges for technical
communication positions.
The results of this survey will be published on the STC Europe web site no
later than June 1, 2003. The results will be available to anyone who
wishes to view them, whether or not they belong to the STC. We will
publish European results as a whole. We will also publish individual
country results for any countries that return a significant number of
responses.
The more completed forms we receive back, the more comprehensive the
results. Therefore, we encourage you to forward this survey to your
colleagues in technical communications, whether or not they are affiliated
with the STC. We welcome responses from anywhere in Europe.
This survey is completely confidential and anonymous.
