TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
OK, I think Sera's right on! Thrill of the chase? Yes, definitely. Nothing
like solving a knotty problem, making sense out of a pile of ****. Nothing
like having smiling (!) support people come up to you in the company parking
lot, saying "Thank you!" [Yes, that's actually happened to me.]
Sure, there's a lot of scut work, like this ! -at- #$%^&*!! publishing system I'm
currently wrestling with. But that stuff exists in any job. And we certainly
get more variety than programmers do.
And besides, you get to correspond with the great people on this list! (Come
to think of it, there's a fair bit of what makes the grass grow green here,
too, but at least there's the delete key!)
Happy Friday!
Now back to Documentum.
