Re: When are illustrations enough?
How do you decide, if an author has not handed in any illustrations or
photos, etc., whether they are needed or not?
If they are how do you determine what kind of illustration or photo, etc.,to
use?
If the choice to use an illustration is chosen what do you use to tell the
author that an illustration would help the work and illustrator to make
preparation easier.
The shortest and best answer is to refer you to Edward Tufte's books, which treat this subject thoroughly, gracefully, and compellingly. Consider yourself fortunate to have access to an illustrator and the budget to use such a resource!
