Of course, that is one of the signs of the ends of days, along with two-headed calves and rains of blood ;-)

If grammar made the writer, then over two hundred years of prescriptive grammar would have raised the general quality of writing - at least among the educated. However, there is no evidence of that whatsoever. In fact, Shakespeare, Marlowe, Jonson, Webster and their contemporaries all seemed to stumble along quite well without a decent dictionary or prescriptive grammar to crib from.
