So have mine, my last two hires were in completely new industries for me.
But there's been a rather abrupt change in the marketplace in the past year,
at least in my locale. Nobody's interested in long term learning or growth,
just in what can a candidate do for them *today.* Perhaps that's a reflection
of hiring managers' uncertainties that they or their companies *have* a long
term, but it's been at least a year since a prospective employer said anything
to me about "growing with the company."
