STORY: SnagIt and Camtasia Studio proof

Dan the technical writer stared at the help desk support technician with
unmasked animosity.

"I mean it, Dan," Alan said after noting his expression. "No one read
manuals. That's why they all call me!" he repeated.

Dan stormed out of the break room and threw himself into his office chair.
He'd show him. Dan continued to work on his latest online manual.

He used SnagIt - the amazingly versatile screen capture software - to
capture menus and entire Web pages. He used SnagIt Studio to add textual
captions.

He then used Camtasia Studio - the easy-to-use screen recording software -
to record exactly how to perform tasks in the application. He inserted
his SnagIt screenshots to serve as title slides in between his Camtasia
Studio video clips. He produced the video as a Macromedia Flash file, so
that it was very compressed.

He sat back, satisfied with his project. He posted it on the intranet,
told Alan where to find it, and then stopped by his office.

He found Alan intently watching the video.

"You're reading the title slides, you're reading the chapter headings,
you're observing - you're learning from the video," Dan countered.

Alan turned to him, obviously impressed. "This will definitely cut down
on the number of help desk calls," he said, smiling.

Dan clicked his heels, twirled, and soft-shoed down the hall. Not only
did he love proving himself right, but he loved that he didn't succumb to
the temptation to slug his coworker right in the middle of the break room.
