Is anyone a fan of using "they" as the gender neutral singular pronoun
of choice? For example:

"The first time a user accesses their account, they will have to enter
their e-mail address and give praise to tech writers everywhere."

Please don't gasp, but the following is sex-neutral enough, as far as I'm concerned:

"The first time a user accesses his account, he will have to enter his e-mail address and give praise to tech writers everywhere."

I occasionally use the generic he in my work, just for variety. I don't ever use "they" singularly, and I don't use the "generic she" ("The first time a user access her account..."). And here's the real, unbelievable kicker: I treat women as full equals by my actions.
