I recommend against pasting directly into Word, FrameMaker, Ventura,
WordPerfect, or any other authoring tool. Keep the graphics separate
because this keeps your DTP/WP files smaller and gives you more
flexibility with your graphics.

In summary, it looks like my tests confirm what other folks posted here
recently. That is, if you are using Word 97, the way to go is to paste
directly into the doc and resize from there; if you want referenced
images, gifs seem to be the ticket. I suppose this doesn't really shed
much light on the Flash question, but I hope the info is useful in any
case.
