Belinda -- before we all scare you, let me say:

Congratulations for being so good at your job that you are being offered new duties.

I've worked several places where the doc and QA manager has been the same person, and it can be really good. Of course, the person looks a little ragged around the edges ;>), but it can be a really good model for a growing software company.
If there are multiple people under you, assign really good group leads.
