Yes, I thought of that. But I am sure that they meant "oblique" - I feel
certain that this is not one of those cases in which a weird word is
used but commonly understood within the field. This software is very
low-end software that does nothing more than display records - and it
runs on the web - so that the lowest level law enforcement personnel and
also clerk-types can use it. I don't think they have a rare word in use
for users such as these.

Sounds like you may have to do a bit of research to make sure it's a
misspelling and not a real term. After that, I'd say go for the change.
