Some do have Linux drivers, but they tend to be specific to a particular version of the kernel. As a result, if you upgrade the kernel, the printer may not work.

You can also use a winprinter from within Linux if you have a Windows running in vmware or win4lin.

Personally, though, I stay clear of winprinters. Even under Windows, their performance can be erratic. Moreover, because they'r eoften bottom line models, you often can't upgrade them to use a decent amount of memory, which makes them impractical for brochure work and the like.
