How about the cyberpunk fiction of William Gibson? And a lot of "hard science" science fiction is or has
been quite technical.


Many hard science fiction writers are degreed scientists,
which often informs their fiction. Greg Benford still teaches
physics at UC-Irvine, Vernor Vinge teaches computer science
at San Diego State, Geoff Landis works for NASA, David Brin
has a PhD in astrophysics, Catherine Asaro has a PhD in chemical physics. Just to name a few...
