I've re-negotiated deadlines or project scope when needed, but the only deadlines I've actually missed are those I wasn't informed of---Manager A tells Upper Manager B that I'll have Document C ready by Date E which is a month earlier than the original Deadline D, and then forgets to tell me about the change.
