Exactly. The amount of effort wasted on this topic seems far out of proportion to its importance. And people complain about the question of how many spaces after a period! At least that raises design issues. While capitalizing or non-capitalizing may change the meaning in some cases (such as "god" and "God"), I don't see any change in meaning in this case.
