Maybe, but whatever you use, you should explain
the convention somewhere. Commas seem no better
and no worse to me.

Tech writers being a contrary bunch, what the
Microsoft style guide recommends and what
their user guides actually do are not always the
same.

In general, though, you "click" a button,
you "choose" a command, and you "select"
an option (as, for example, on a property sheet).
