We're in the process of implementing a true single-source infrastructure
using [drumroll] FrameMaker, Acrobat, and WebWorks Publisher. Frankly, I
really don't see the need to invest the time and money into the larger
database driven systems given that I know first-hand that the FM route
works beautifully.
Anyway, we produce about 45 manuals regularly and about 30 more random
documents that may or may not be updated. Some info is shared from book
to book, other info is unique. Books are published in a total of about
20 languages, and in the format of print (off-set, perfect bound,
paperback), PDF (US Letter and A4), HTML, WinHelp, HTML Help, and
WebWorks Help (cross-browser, cross-platform uncompiled HTML-based
Help).
We have a total of 11 writers spread out over three locations.
So far so good. We did our first single-sourced WinHelp project in
Japanese a few weeks ago - that was interesting. *LOL*
What else do you want to know?
