You read more into the response than was contained in the response...

There is a difference between trying to teach if they don't want to learn
and getting them to want to learn.

What you responded to was getting them to learn if they don't want. What you
responded with was getting them to want to learn.

How about this:

> If they WANT to learn, you can teach them.
> If they don't want to learn, how to make them want to.
> If they [STILL] don't want to learn, all you can do is waste your time.

Sorry folks, I have to take exception to this.

Before divorce and impending poverty forced me back into the corporate
world, I ran an inner-city literacy program. Most people who don't want to
learn have given up - usually due to years of invalidation by 'educators'
who made them feel stupid and inadequate. Anyone can be motivated to learn
when treated with patience and respect.
