Well, for example, the indexing doesn't really represent alternative
ways people might look things up, and items like setting up indexes and
TOCs seem unclear for newbies and the like. In other words, I have cause
to wonder whether the folks writing the FrameMaker online help have
actually written documentation using the product outside of documenting
FrameMaker itself.
For example, open a copy of FrameMaker 7, The Complete Reference, and it
is clear the authors have used the product to get projects done. I don't
believe that such experience shines through when you read the FM UG and
online help.
