Hi all,

I'd like to pose a quick question - please respond off-list so as not to clutter the cyberwaves, and I'll post a summary in a couple of days. And waaaaayyyy-please ... I beg you to not use this query as an excuse/opportunity to start the STC/anti-STC flame war.

The question: how do you feel about STC's stated intention (see http://www.stcrmc.org and read the resulting popup - the pertinent text of which I've pasted at the bottom of this email) to restrict access to "premium content" to members only?

I serve as webmaster for the Rocky Mountain chapter (http://www.stcrmc.org) and am curious to see how people are reacting to this change. I am expecting that our chapter will soon consider whether to follow International's lead in this matter, and would like to be prepared with others' reactions and experiences.

Thanks in advance for offering your opinion ...

Anne

<pertinent content of STC popup>
The STC Web site will soon include a "members-only" section that will contain the STC jobs database, full-article publications search, the STC member directory, and other premium content from the current Web site.

Members...
STC Members will receive an e-mail explaining how to access this section.

Non-members...
Non-members can still visit the STC Web site to obtain general information about the Society and its services.
