But then, my understanding was that up until very recently, "Man [or Woman]
of the Year" was not intended as an accolade but as an acknowledgement: the
one person who has had most effect on the US in that year. Obviously that's
changed (otherwise Osama bin Laden would have been "Man of the Year" for
2001) - does anyone know when it changed, and if they know, can they e-mail
