No it shouldn't. ACCURATE & USEFUL documentation should be everybody's goal. How
that is produced is virtually irrelevant. Nobody in the world is going to care
how that data got to them, just that it did. So don't fool yourself into thinking
that some elaborate system will make the information suddenly more effective. If
you shove garbage into this system you will produce garbage. And since most
engineers could care less about documentation...well the odds are against you.

However, if you need a massive process to generate content and if your employer
is willing to pay for you to spend your time building it, then have fun.

But don't ever assume that your methods are universally useful or acceptable.
Many organizations would consider the type of system your building an absolute
waste of resources.

Modular, single-sourced, dynamic, and cost-effective are not all synonymous
terms. There are plenty of writers in the world producing extremely
cost-effective documentation and there isn't a shred of "single-sourcing" being
done.
