You might consider a laptop that specifically address this issue. It
has two monitors built in. Check out http://www.xentex.com
No, I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but I do think this is
about the slickest designed laptop I've ever seen. Built-in two
monitors, total of 20" monitor real estate, full size/function
keyboard, etc. Kinda pricey, but wow, I still drool over it. It might
be just what you're looking for.
