TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Go to read u'r mail and all other's opinions. There is
no reason why u shouldn't be upset over the term
"Awful", especially when u consider the hard work u
have put in, for preparing the document.
>From u'r mail, (with all the anger u showed) I guess
this is not the first time u have been ill-treated by
u'r manager, and its also certain that its got nothing
to do with the output u are producing. I think its a
matter of some professional jealousy (as u were hired
because u'r manager was incapable of doing Technical
Writing), or some other reason. There is no other
reason whey any Manager wouldn't read the full
document, before starting to make a fuss about it!!
It happens sometimes with the superiors, the best
policy to follow will be to, take any suggestions that
might benefit u, and leave the rest of the babble in
the trash!! (makes life and work simple :-)
Just to be on the safe side, it would be better, if
possible, to show u'r output to a superior person (in
rank above u'r Manager) and discuss the issue
directly. If u'r Manager is all, whom U have!!, then
just hold some discussions with him, and iron out the
differences once and for all. (With good hope, and
fingers crossed)
I don't think its a good idea for u to think about
quiiting the company as u have already said that the
job market there is pretty tight at the moment. So, be
patient and jump when u have the right kind of
oppurtunity.
Take it easy:-)
