In my first tech writing job, I worked for two weeks in a supply closet! I didn't even have a phone in my office/closet.

Yes, that was probably a bad omen, but luckily that was years ago.

I find cube life a mixed blessing. I work near QA, so I often overhear new things going on with the software. (Useful information.) But I get a lot more done when nobody is around.
