Sandy asked: Do DOS and Windows have a version of diff built in? Microsoft
copied several of the standard Unix text utilities for DOS 2.0, but I don't
recall if they did this one.

Comp
Compares the contents of two files or sets of files byte by byte. 

Comp can compare files on the same drive or on different drives, and in the
same directory or in different directories. As comp compares the files, it
displays their locations and file names. 

comp [data1] [data2] [/d] [/a] [/l] [/n=number] [/c]

Fc
Compares two files and displays the differences between them. 

fc [/a] [/b] [/c] [/l] [/lbn] [/n] [/t] [/u] [/w] [/nnnn]
[drive1:][path1]filename1 [drive2:][path2]filename2

fc /b [drive1:][path1]filename1 [drive2:][path2]filename2
