I haven't had time to go over all the postings to this thread, so
forgive me if I am just reemphasizing a point.  I want to pose a
question which has a history that addresses the issues raised by the
few letters I have read on this and the related threads.  The article
Emily sites raises this question:  

What if labor was globalized along with capital, and could pass
through borders as easily?
