Personally, I haven't been in the STC long enough to form an opinion but when I participated here in Houston while in college, I found everyone quite congenial and helpful. I did get an award from them in 1999 but haven't become a full member because of the cost and the hour drive to downtown Houston to make the monthly meetings. I'm sure there are elements as in any organization that are out for themselves but I don't think it is rampant in STC.
