I hate to burst your bubble Sean, but I really doubt that most people in the
profession today hearken back as long ago as all that!

And in my instance, they didn't use Selectric typewriters, they had the
fancy new MagCard typewriters, and they were able to do proportional letters
and spaces, resulting in even margins without "rivers of white." Anyone else
remember when that was cutting edge?

PS - There's a commercial on TV from some stock brokerage where the boss is
telling his agents to flog some stock they're obligated to move .. "Let's
put some lipstick on this pig" is a line destined for the Clios .... [To any
lipstick-wearers, real or imaginary, who might read this and take even the
slightest offense: deal with it.]

LOL! I just got an e-mail about "tarting-up" the GUI on our software.
Nice. Nothing wrong with a little tarting up, I always say.

Anyway, don't cha all remember the days of old, when tech writers would
write copy, and it would go to the typists with the IBM selectrics? You
know, before DTP software and Microsoft Word?

Cheers,

Sean

Most of the font stuff is handled by styles, so I don't
really have to think about that aspect until the "tart it up" phase
