Hi all,

We are planning to add some short tutorials
to the help system for our ASP product.

Some background: Users will not receive a
printed user guide, unless a partner company
that is hosting the product chooses to send
a rebranded user guide to their customers.
In other words, the online help that we build
in to the product may be the only source of
information/training that users receive. This
is fairly typical of ASP products.

My questions, for those of you who have
added tutorials to ASP products:

- Do you usually include a short tutorial
that explains how the web-based interface
is organized and how it works? For example,
the expected workflow, how to add items to
the database, how to search for items in the
database, how to print results shown on the
screen, how to use special controls, how to
get help, etc?

- How many of your tutorials were composed of
text and images that users simply "paged"
through using < and > arrows?

- How many of your tutorials were movies? How
long were the movies? What software did you
use to create the movies? Did you face any
technical problems in the delivery/use of
the movies, i.e. firewall blockages, lack of
media-playing software on user machines, etc.?

- How many tutorials did you create in total?
Were the tutorials separated from the help
system, or included as part of the help system?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

Cheers,

Rowena
