Personally, when I get bored, I switch tasks.

I keep a pile of "important but not urgent" work
that's _not_ writing or editing - technical
illustrations, flow charts, web design, etc. When
writing starts to get "stale", or when the writing
on the pages I'm editing gets blurry, <g> I switch
to something else.

After a couple hours of working on a perspective
drawing of the gut of an RF Network component, I'm
quite please to get back to writing. Variety is
the key to keeping my motivation level high at
work.

You may also want to take a sanity check on your
larger environment - if you don't have much of a
life outside of work (we all let that happen,
occasionally) the ups and downs of employment
seem that much bigger.

When all else fails, I hop in my Z3 and take a
spin along some twisty roads. A little wind in my
hair on a sunny afternoon goes a long way towards
reminding me of how good life is.
