In support of Bruce, I must say that I deplore Microsoft's business 
practices, and don't like most of their software for exactly the 
reasons he sites.

Another reason is their perversion of standards. Netscape isn't pure 
about W3 HTML standards, but Microsoft is far behind Netscape for 
compliance with those standards. The ONE exception being the Mac 
Business Unit in Microsoft. Their implementation of Internet Explorer 
5.x on the Mac has been the best application of the HTML standards 
around. In fact, the MacBU is probably better at interface design and 
application/user friendliness than the rest of Microsoft combined.
