Start with Alan Cooper's "The Inmates Are Running The Asylum," which will help you understand and define the problem, then follow-up with Cooper's "About Face: The Essentials of User Interface Design." There are other fine books on UI design, but those should get you started.

Hello all,

Can anyone recommend a good book on GUI design? Right now, our developers
design all the interfaces, and usability is definately not a priority. Our
writing department is hoping to get a foot in the door and fix this. So,
does anyone have a favorite book we could try?
