<Quietly notes that not only one can import and convert to a local std (map)
fairly easily but one has done so many times and is tossing some like ideas
around at the moment for three systems into Word>.

Can macros ever convert? Are VBA and its incarnations copyrighted by
Microsoft, or are they available for anyone to implement?

I imagine you could implement your own OpenOffice macro language and then
try to map to it from Office files, but that would be a scary undertaking.
