Hmmmmmmmm. Nothing. But, this is a strange (for me) environment of which
I do not yet have a good measure. It seems we have a lot of experts in
everything around here, so I guess I have to prove myself. It's a
frustrating situation in some ways, because I've been in the business
for 10 years, and it's a cool challenge in others.
At previous employers, it was hit and miss, really depending on the
personality of those who were judging me. Primarily, I was considered to
be an SME of authoring tools, secondarily graphics tools and the items I
documented.
I have found that I generally get more respect as an SME if I come in to
a company as a contractor, rather than an employee.
