Many years ago, in a career far, far away, there was a programmer manager
who would occasionally tell us Business Analysts not to talk to the
programmers. Everything had to be channelled through the manager. So,
the three of us B.A.'s would gang up on the manager and fire questions at
him. Anywhere. Anytime. Sometimes he'd see us (we all hung out
together, too) and take off in a different direction. It was pretty funny.
Of course, soon afterwards, he'd relent and let us talk to the programmers
again. We all thought he just wanted some attention from us, so we gave
him plenty. It never lasted more than a week.

I also hung out with the programmers socially. We'd all go take smoke
breaks together and eat lunch. During these "no contact" times, we always
greeted each other with "Hey, I'm not suppose to talk to you!" and then
we'd roll our eyes. And talk shop. Anyone who didn't smoke would put
together a list of questions, and pass it on to the smokers for
discussion/information swapping at lunch and break. It was quite alot of
fun, actually. We (the B.A.'s and programmers) knew how to work around
the system.
