I typically write user documentation, not proposals; however, when the person
signing my paycheck requested that I write a proposal concerning a software
application that only a couple people (me and the developer) knew anything
about, I wrote a proposal.

The proposal was very well received, but I am now happily writing user
documentation once again (with the full knowledge that even though I'd prefer
not to, I may be called upon to write another proposal any time).
