OK. Please refer back to the lurking thread some time ago when I
specifically mentioned WHY I choose to lurk. I thought I was being helpful
with my post. Unfortunately, it appears I've offended some people.

I've gotten several responses to my original message on this thread, which
stated that I hate getting unsolicited "mass mailing" resumes.

Bruce Byfield responded to my original post as follows:
"Blacklisting the senders of unsolicited resumes because you feel
personally inconvenienced doesn't do a thing for the company."

I don't blacklist people because they send unsolicited resumes. I'd like to
direct Bruce and others who responded to me to the last paragraph of my
original message:

"What I have NEVER received is an unsolicited e-mail that demonstrates some
familiarity with the types of products my company produces AND identifies a
match in the sender's experience. If someone would spend a little time on
the internet, they could find out quite a bit about the types of products we
produce. They should also then be able to tell me how their experience in
other jobs will cross over to documenting these types of products. By
spending a little time, the sender has demonstrated that they know how to
research information and how to address that information in their cover
letter/resume. I'll definitely consider them if my company EVER has an
opening, and I may contact them if I know of other companies in the area
that are hiring."

Those of you who are upset with my original response seem to have missed
this part of my post. You can make a very good impression on me if you go to
our website and spend five minutes figuring out what we do and what types of
products you would have to document. Such a good impression, in fact, that I
may try to put you in touch with some other people I know in the area if
your resume is good (we are not hiring now).

Please don't think I'm unsympathetic. I've been out of work too. Just like
we all learned a little bit about the evaluation process in that heated Word
Styles in Resume thread, maybe we'll all learn something from this one.
