I'm an (small) employer and I've eliminated two positions over the past 5
months (1 RIF and one resignation I didn't re-staff). The big employers
here (American Airlines, WorldCom, Williams Communication, Williams Energy)
are all in layoff mode. WillComm is in bankruptcy.

There may be opportunities but you'll probably have to find them through
agencies (people with connections).

The local paper ("Tulsa World") is online.

On the up side, cost of living here is one of the lowest in the nation.
On the downside, you're moving into the area during the worst season
imaginable. July & August in Oklahoma helps you understand why the native
americans who were FORCED to relocate here called this "the hot place".

Hello, folks.

Due to changes at my husband's workplace, it's beginning to look quite
likely that we'll be moving from New Jersey to the Tulsa, Oklahoma area late
this summer. I would appreciate any information you can offer about the area
in general and, specifically, about TW job opportunities there. I have more
than 10 years experience as a TW, editor, and manager.

Please note that I am already combing the online job boards (with no
results) and that I've sent a note to the OK STC chapter president to ask
this same question.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Beth
