Hi,
Does anyone know of a web (or other) resource I can consult for my latest task of updating and redesigning "informational materials" for our statistical software? Specifically, I need some ideas for tone, length, and layout and design. Have you ever done anything like this and can share some tips?

These informational materials are designed to attract potential customers while giving some (and in some cases, lots of) technical information about the way our software works. I, as a tech writer, have been asked to create these pieces instead of the marketing dept. because the materials must stay very technical in look and feel and content while at the same time persuading the audience favorably. The only graphics I can use are the product logo and screen shots of the software. The material will be distributed at trade shows and conferences along with the splashy, graphics-filled brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials.

I've never been to trade shows or other places where this type of material is distributed so I don't have anything like it in my collection of examples. However, I know that the STC competitions has a category for informational materials--which is separate from promotional materials.

Thanks,

Meredith
