It definitely isn't necessary to be onsite to write a Help file. I've been in business since 1987 and my last onsite
contract was 1991. And, in the last three years, I've developed at least 30 Help files.

I attend meetings as necessary, but that's about it. I'm perfectly happy to work from home in a T-shirt and sweats...

In some cases, clients have sent me timed (and sometimes not timed) versions of the software for me to install. In other
cases, I've received access to the server. And in other cases, I use GoToMyPC to log in and out as necessary.
